The benefits of a raw food diet based around meat are well known, however it would be hard to find someone who denies their dog the T-bone from a BBQ. Most people know not to feed dogs cooked chicken bones, however even large ham or lamb bones can become hard and brittle when boiled slowly in winter soups, with the risk of swallowing hard, sharp, splinters of bones which may perforate stomach and bowel. Most vets recommend never to feed your dog cooked bones, especially slow-boiled soup bones.
One of our dogs' favourite treats are the "Love em" Pork Liver and Beef Liver treats. You're almost guaranteed that they'll do whatever you ask - shake, site, go downstairs - whenever they see these packets being opened.
Hemp Hound Hors d'oeuvres are a new product from Tasmanian farmer Ian Rochfort, a licensed commercial cannabis grower. Initially grown to feed his geese, he has moved into dog biscuits. Apparently hemp seed has a perfect balance of immune-boosting Omega 3, 6 and 9, up to 30 percent protein, and essential fatty acids for easy metabolism by humans and animals.
